Catherine Albright, 91, died peacefully in her sleep on November 4, 2012, after a long life of service to her family, her community, and her country.
She is survived by three of her children, Mark Albright (Sandy) of Melbourne, FL, Randy Albright (Debbie) of Titusville, FL, and Deb Woodside (Dave) of Cocoa, FL. She has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom was the light of her life in her later years. Her eldest child, John Scott Albright II, was lost over Laos in 1968, reported MIA initially, with a presumptive declaration of KIA some years later.
The fourth of five children of John Gratton McGuire and Inis Mona Thomas McGuire, Catherine was born in Logan, WV, and grew up in Huntington, WV, graduating from Marshall University with a Bachelors Degree in English Literature.
While attending Marshall University, she met and married Air Cadet John Scott Albright of Petersburg, VA. They were married for 53 happy years.
A loving homemaker and mother, Catherine devoted herself to her family, raising four children while living the nomadic life of an Air Force wife. Everywhere they went, Catherine made a home for her family, filled with love, laughter, and good food. She made every holiday special.
She and Scott were among the founding members of the National League of Families of POWs and MIAs after he retired from the US Air Force.
They moved to Satellite Beach in 1974, where Catherine became an active member of the Officer's Wives Club and several gourmet cooking groups, but her greatest joy was found in the time she spent with her family.
A memorial service will be held on November 18, 2012, at 2 PM EST, at the Oceanside Community Church, 305 Cassia Boulevard, Satellite Beach, FL 32937.
