David Lyons Stewart
David Lyons Stewart, 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
David was born on June 25, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Carl Lyons and Frances Taylor.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army and later served for 20 years as a patent attorney and judge for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, VA. He moved from Virginia to Florida in 2000 where he was admitted to the Florida Bar and continued working in private practice until his retirement in 2008.
David was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, most recently in the Melbourne Ward of the Cocoa Florida Stake. He was a man of strong faith. He served his Church in many capacities over the years, as well as his community.
He was a member of the Board of Directors for Daily Bread in Melbourne for over six years, and more recently served as the Platinum Coast Amateur Radio Society's emergency coordinator for South Brevard County.
David's favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Those left behind to mourn his loss are, his wife Fran; five children: Allen Stewart, Sharon Reynolds, Kathryn Stewart, Tracey Conway and Devon Knisley; six grandchildren: Jessica Wright, Nicole Conway, Stephen Minto, Allyson Stewart, Wesley Stewart, Sean Reynolds; and his siblings: Kenneth Stewart, Russell Stewart and Jean Whitehead.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Church of Latter-day Saints, 1145 Creel Street, Melbourne, FL, 32935.
