Erma Irene Maxey, age 95, of Melbourne, Florida, died December 20, 2012, in Melbourne, Florida, surrounded by her loved ones. Irene was born January 2, 1917 in Basin, West Virginia.
Irene is survived by her son, Ray (Joy) Maxey of Melbourne, Florida; and daughter, Judi (Johnny) Amon of Malden, MO; 4 beautiful grandchildren, Renee (Keith) Kowalske, Tammy Troutman, Lisa (Rick) Richardson, Lori (Hank) Pierce; 5 great grandchildren, Amber, Derek, Rachel, Meagan, Cody; and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Lacy; mother, Ada (McKinney) Wood; husband, Dale Maxey; brother, Ray Wood; and sister, Hazel Sparks. Survived by her brothers, Rev. Charles (Barbara) Wood, Rev. Emerson (Betty) Wood and Gerald (Lana) Wood, and sister, Alma Jennings.
Irene enjoyed going to church, reading and flowers. She loved her family and friends very much; she was a gracious southern lady and was always ready for a new adventure.

A celebration of Irene's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Florida Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, 24 December 2012. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service; officiating the ceremony will be Rev. Jeffery Hoy.
