Evelyn Stewart Guyton

Evelyn Guyton passed away on May 1, in her home on Merritt Island, surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 25, 1934 in Miami Beach, Florida to W. Woodford Thomas Stewart and Evelyn Calmes Stewart. She attended Miss Harris' Florida school in Miami, FL, Cocoa Junior High, Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN and Parsons School of Design in NYC. She was recognized in the New York Times at the school's 32nd fashion show which featured her evening gown.
She was President of Nth degree and pursued fashion design for many years. As a member of the Junior League of Miami, she treasured time spent working with the Miccosukee Indians on their quilting, and costuming for Beaux Arts. She was an artist, an incredible gardener, a world traveler and an elegant and gracious hostess. She attended Cordon Bleu in Paris. The happiest times of her life were spent entertaining her friends and her family and celebrating life on a daily basis.
She is survived by her three children, Mary Evelyn Guyton of Sarasota, Thomas B. Guyton (Suzanne) of Merritt Island, and Elizabeth Guyton of Merritt Island; four grandchildren, Stewart T. Bennett of Sarasota, Elizabeth D. Bennett of Miami, FL, Gabriella Guyton and Thomas Guyton III of Merritt Island, and one great-grandchild, William T. Goldner of Miami; her two nieces from Carmel, California, Virginia Von Hasseln and Louise Von Hasseln; and her beloved poodle, Jocko.
Services will be held Saturday, May 10, at 4pm at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Parkinson's Research Fund USF Foundation Att: Dr. Sanchez Ramos 13220 Laurel Drive Tampa, FL 33612 or St. Mark's Church.
