Gerald W. "Jerry" Sutter, 97, of Melbourne, Fla. and formerly of Galion, OH, died Sunday, October 28, 2012, at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla.
Born August 31, 1915 in Galion, he was the son of the late Louis H. and Anna Marie (Fisher) Sutter. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Frances (Snyder) Sutter, whom he married December 14, 1946.
Jerry was a World War II
U. S. Army
Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Our Lady of Lords Catholic Church and Moose Lodge 1406, both in Melbourne, Fla., and was a life member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion.
He was lead engineer for the Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Fla. after being transferred from North Electric Co. in Galion.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce and David Kalbach, of Redding, Pa., Rebecca, of Melbourne, Fla. and Dima Garcia of Highland Mills, N.Y.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Sandra Sutter, of Lecanto, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Courtney, Coty, Gregory, Michael, Jack, Jonathon and Christopher; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Sutter; four brothers, James, Glenn, Francis and Raymond Sutter; and two sisters, Edith West and Dorothy Sutter.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2012 and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 5 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 5 with Father John Miller officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Shelby.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion/Crestline veteran's organizations.
