Herman "Jack" Sledd


Herman (Jack) Sledd died May 2, 2013. He was born the 3rd of September, 1922 to Samuel and Etta Sledd in Roanoke, VA.

He was a WWII veteran, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific arenas on the Coast Guard Flag ship, the U.S.S. Campbell. He had been stationed in Philadelphia for a short period of time where he met his wife Rosalyn (Roz). It was love at first sight, and they were married on the 10th of May, 1947. He was retired from SKF Ball Bearing Industry in Philadelphia.

Whether you knew him as Herman or Jack, you knew him as a kind, soft spoken man who loved his country, church, family, friends and his game of golf. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eau Gallie Yacht Club.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Roz; five nephews; and four nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 N. Hwy A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903 on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father David Page presiding.
