Mildred Katherine Kelleher
Mildred Katherine Kelleher, 94, died peacefully at William Childs Hospice House, February 15 after a short illness.
Millie was born in Festus, Missouri on May 28, 1919 to Clara and Grover Lucas; one of nine children. She worked at National Vendors in St. Louis throughout WWII which manufactured mortar ammunition casings. She is a member of the American Rosie the Riveters Association. The family has resided in Melbourne since 1954. Millie worked at Harris Corp. in the Semiconductor Division from 1968 to 1984. After retiring from Harris, Millie volunteered at Holmes Regional Hospital Medical Center for 14 years. She was a long time member of the Order of the Amaranth, Ida E. Banks Court. She attended Bethany Baptist Church. An avid bowler from age 22 to 90, Millie last bowled with the Hi Low Women's League at Harbour Lanes.
Millie was predeceased by her husband, Gerald F. Kelleher, a Purple Heart
WWII veteran. She is survived by sister, Peggy Ratini, Bartlett, Ill., children Patricia A. Johnston, Villa Rica, Georgia, Jerry M. Kelleher (Audrey), Orlando, Dennis L. Kelleher (Joann), Raleigh and Thomas F. Kelleher, Melbourne, grandchildren Daniel Kelleher, Jennifer Schmidt (Steve), Ashley Kelleher, Colleen Kelleher, Stephen Kelleher, Heather Kelleher (Donald Krantz), 2 LT Christopher Kelleher USA and one great grandchild Jordan Schmidt.
Millie was a devoted Florida Gators, Orlando Magic and Tampa Bay Rays fan. She enjoyed travel (her last trip was through the Panama Canal April 2012), word puzzles, reading and Jeopardy. But most of all Millie loved her family.
Visitation will be held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955 on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services at 11:00. Burial will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
