Millard F. Hill, Sr.
Millard F. Hill Sr, 89, of Titusville, joined the heavenly band on Sept 24, 2013. Surrounded by his children and wife of 66 years, he passed peacefully at home due to natural causes.
Born in a West Virginia coal mining town in 1924, he was the 4th of 5 children of Warren and Bertha Hill. He joined the Navy and served with honor in the South Pacific during WWII
. Post war he met the love of his life and wife, Betty. Upon graduation from University of West Virginia, he served his country in the Army. In 1956, Millard and Betty moved to Titusville. He built his own house where he and Betty raised their 6 children. He worked on multiple space crafts at the Kennedy Space Center as an electrician and retired after 33 years with McDonnell-Douglas. He was a charter member and active participant of Indian River City United Methodist Church. After his retirement, he enjoyed plenty of international travel, as well as spending fall time at numerous West Virginia football games. He especially loved playing with the Alumni band on the field during homecoming. He did this well into his mid-80s. One year he was awarded the coveted "Outstanding Alumnus" award.
Mr. Hill's life can be summed in one word: Love. He loved his wife, his family, and God. He taught and showed us what love is. Always willing to give a hug, he wanted everyone to share love. He was proud of his 6 children who are all successful and hard working in their professions. He was especially proud of the love that is shared between each member of his family. This would be his crowning achievement.
He is survived by wife Betty, his six children and their loving spouses, who he treated as his own; Thomas (Catherine), John, Daniel, Millard Jr. (Ellen), Susan Mead (Kevin), and Edwin (Jenni). Twelve grandchildren, Juliette, Josephine, and Caroline; Bryan, Danielle, Chad, and Erika; Jason, Jamie, and Christian; Aaron; and Graham. Last count is 13 great grandchildren with more on the way. He is also survived by his sister Anna Moore and brother Joseph, both of Titusville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
