Oscar L. Edwards

Titusville, FL

Oscar L. Edwards, 83, of Titusville, passed away Saturday, May 31 2014 at Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehab after a short illness. Born June 16, 1930 in Mt. Airy NC to the late Lawrence and Alice (Ledford) Edwards, he and his family relocated to Titusville in 1967.

Oscar was employed by McDonnell Douglas FMP and retired from there in 1993. He was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing, and was a member of the McDonnell Douglas Sportsman's Club.

Survived by wife, Joy Edwards; son, Oscar Jr. of Palm Bay; grandson, Russell Brian Edwards (Raquel); great-grandson, Caleb Edwards; stepsons, Thomas Johnson of Vero Beach and David Johnson of Titusville; step-grandson, Tyler Johnson of Merritt Island, many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his first wife of 28 years, Sheila Edwards of Titusville. He was preceded in death by son, Russell Edwards; step-children, Kenneth Johnson and Phyllis Densmore.

Oscar spent most of his final years dedicated to the care of his ailing wife, Joy. The level of dedication shown by Oscar during this time was truly remarkable considering his own failing health. Seldom have the words "in sickness and in health" been so well represented.

Thank you to the staff of Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehab, also, Hospice of St. Francis. Special thanks to neighbor, Donna Davis.

Arrangements by Newcomer Cremation and Funeral Service. No formal service is planned.
