Patricia Dixon

Patricia Elizabeth Dixon, 94, passed away peacefully in Hospice Care on February 6, 2013 surrounded by loving family members after a brief illness. She was born February 24, 1918 in Ontario, Canada to James and Lula Purdy Thomson and was raised by her step parents Walter and Lillian Watson.

Married to Edward H. Dixon in Detroit, Michigan in 1935, they moved to Florida and later settled in Merritt Island in 1957.

She is survived by sons, Gary (Kathleen) Dixon of Garden City, MI and Michael of St. Augustine; daughter, Judith (Larry) Tonger of Interlachen; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 24 great great grandchildren, as well as many close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and step parents, her loving husband, Edward; sons, Dale and Mark; son-in-law, Larry Tonger; grandson, Dale Allen; and great granddaughter, Liza Marie Barclay.

Patricia was a faithful member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Merritt Island for over 50 years where she served as Treasurer for 32 years. Prior to retirement, Patricia worked in a law office and at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa during the 1960's and early 1970's. She also volunteered for the Brevard County Sharing Center for over ten years.

Her family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, where Patricia spent the last 19 days of her life. She was loved and respected by all and will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home of Merritt Island, 1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5555 N. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island, followed by burial at St. Luke's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Luke's Episcopal Church Building Fund.
