Robert "Dex" Dexter, 85, of Indian Harbour Beach, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013.
He was born in 1927 in New York, New York and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1945. After serving as an electronic technician in the U.S. Navy
for two years, he went on to Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1952.
Dex moved from Cheshire, Connecticut to Florida with his wife and two young children in 1962 and worked as an electrical engineer for PanAm, then Boeing and Bendix at Cape Kennedy. He retired at the age of 63 from the Civil Engineering Squadron of Air Force Space Command at Patrick Air Force Base
Dex was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Sharpe Howe Dexter, whom he married on September 17, 1955. The Dexters were known for their many house parties, their love of piano bars, performing "New York, New York" at weddings, and for being wonderful parents and grandparents.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Stan Ludwig of Concord, NC; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandy Dexter of New Windsor, MD; as well as his four granddaughters, Carly and Sydney Dexter, Shelly and Julie Ludwig.

or Candlelighters of Brevard (1875-A S.Patrick Dr., Ind. Har. Bch, FL 32937) in honor of the George Gaudy family who have always treated "Mr. D" as a beloved member of their large, caring family.
