Roy Smith, 76, went to be with our Lord on April 16, 2014.

Roy was born December 11, 1937 in Valdese, North Carolina. He married Valerie March 21, 1956 and moved to South Florida in September of that year.

In 1966 Roy began working as a pipefitter/welder with United Association of Pipe Fitters Local Union 725, Miami, Florida. He has been an active member for 48 years. For five years, Roy was the Business Manager 1999 to 2004 when he retired.

After retirement, Roy and Valerie moved to Rockledge Florida where he quickly made friends and became a member of the Cape Canaveral Car Club. He had a fondness for antique cars, and owned a 1929 Model A Tudor Sedan, 1965 Hard Top Thunderbird, 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe and a 1929 Dodge Brothers Senior Six.

Roy is survived by his wife Valerie; his son, Mark and his wife Nancy; son, Matthew and his wife Fanny; son, Samuel and his wife Anna Maree; grandchildren,, Justin, Brandon, Caitlin, Troy, Tawny, Tommy, Michael, Sarah and Kelly. He has three great grandchildren, Madison, Brenton and Bailey. His sister, Jeannie Kries also survives him. Brothers, Tommy and Gordon, precede Roy in death.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm. at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 North US 1, Cocoa, FL 32927. Telephone 321-636-3720.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be immediately following visitation.
