Sandra J. Leek-Gangwer made her journey to heaven on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 surrounded by her family and the caregivers of Vitas Hospice.
Sandi was born November 4, 1941 in Goshen, Indiana. Sandi moved to Florida in 1961 with her husband Charles. She spent over 20 years in public service volunteering as an EMT with Harbor City Volunteer Ambulance Squad and then as an E911 Dispatcher with Melbourne Police Department. She also served as an advisor and co-founder of the Melbourne Police Explorers. After retiring from public service, she continued to help others working as a house mother at Hacienda Girls Ranch. She retired in 2010 to spend time with her family and travel.
Sandi was a member of Palm Bay Baptist Church and a member of their choir.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Edward Gangwer. She is survived by her parents Owen and Louise Leek, sister Patricia Gaume and her children, son Michael and Katheryn Gangwer, daughter Kim and Danny Williams, son Mark Gangwer, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren all from Brevard County; many aunts, uncles, and cousins who reside in Indiana.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 1pm, at Fountainhead Funeral Home.
