Stanley D. Allen
Stanley D. Allen died Sunday, January 8, 2012. Stan was born to Stanton and Anise Allen on June 9, 1921 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He graduated from the University of Nebraska and enlisted in the U.S. Navy
serving from 1943-1946. He captained P.T. Boats during the Battle of Normandy and in the South Pacific. Stan served under seven presidents as a federal civil servant for the Social Security Administration, the Navy and the Treasury Department.
In 1952, he married Marjorie Mary, and upon his retirement they moved to Merritt Island, FL. Marjorie preceded him in death in 2000.
Stan was an active member of the East Merritt Island Home Owners Association, the Merritt Island Executive Council and the Redevelopment Agency.
On May 24, 2011, the County Commissioners honored Stan with a Proclamation of Appreciation for his service. Stan also served on the Board of Directors of PT Boats, Inc., planning and participating in forty seven annual reunions.
Stan is survived by his daughters, Cheri Allen and Amy Allen-Chabot (Ed); and his son, Kevin (Suzie) Allen, residents of Arnold, Maryland. He has three grandsons, Randy and Daniel Allen and Matthew Chabot. He is also survived by his sister, Winnie Post, Moses Lake, Washington, several cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 1940 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, Florida.
