Sterling John O'Shaughnessy

Sterling John O'Shaughnessy, 83, of Viera, Florida, passed away on March 6, 2014. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sterling grew up in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science from Florida Institute of Technology. He moved to Melbourne in 1956 to work with the RCA Missile Test Project after serving in the Navy. He continued his Navel career in the Navy Reserve as an Intelligence Officer and with the Military Sealift Command until 1979.
Sterling married Margaret Vaughan, his college sweetheart, in 1959. In 1967, he went to work for the Air Force at Patrick AFB until 1992 when he retired as Chief of Long Range Planning for the Eastern Test Range.
Sterling is survived by the love of his life and wife, Margaret, daughter Karen, son-in-law (who he considered a son) William Draper and nephew Dr. Kenneth Adams.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00AM, 12 March 2014 at St. John the Evangelist, Viera, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Alzheimer's Association.

My deepest sympathy, Margaret. My relationships with you and "Bud" go back a number of years and hold many fond memories for me. He will be missed by his Naval Reserve friends as well as our community at large.
