Ruth Haungs Obituary


Ruth M. Haungs, 91, a Melbourne area resident for many years and originally from Niagara Falls, N.Y., passed away and went to her Heavenly Father on May 28, 2011.

She is survived by a brother, George (Martha) Haungs in Rochester, N.Y. and a sister, Rita (Jack, deceased) Larson, of Grant-Valkaria, Florida. She was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine (Ken) Hambrock; a brother, Edwin (Margaret) Haungs; and a sister, Katherine (William) Fay. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their children.

There will be a mass of Christian burial at St. John the Evangelist, 5655 Stadium Pkwy., Melbourne, FL 32955 at the 11:00 O'Clock mass on Monday, June 6th. There will be a one hour viewing at the church before the mass. Interment will be in the Veteran Mausoleum at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S. U.S. Highway 1, in Rockledge, FL 32955 following the mass.

Ruth served as a U.S. Marine for twenty years beginning during World War II. She then worked for our Foreign Service, State Dept., for another ten years, serving in Africa and in Viet Nam during the war.

After retiring to Florida she was an Alzheimer's caregiver volunteer for years, as well as a volunteer helping seniors with their income tax. She was well known in bridge and golf circles. She was wonderful.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
