John Maurer Obituary
Merritt Island, FL
John Anthony Maurer, 91, went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 5, 2014. John was born in NY City, NY on July 8, 1923 to Joseph and Anna Maurer. He graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1948.
John is survived by his loving wife, Jean, of Merritt Island, and five children, Kenneth (Nancy) of Oviedo, Robert (Carol) of Moreno Valley, CA; Edward (Nancy) of Tampa; Richard (Angie) of Merritt Island and Diane of Merritt Island. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Totten of Rockledge in 2013. John is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John was a US Navy WWII veteran and served with honor in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946. He worked for NBC, Pan Am, and Johnson Control and was very proud of his contribution to the space program.
In 1964, John was a founding member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts and a founding leader of Pack #333 (now #343) in Merritt Island.
John always kept up with current events and constantly read about space and technology. He remained sharp and interested in the world around him until his passing. John loved his children very much and was very proud of them and everything they accomplished. He will be missed tremendously.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island, Saturday, September 20th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please donate, in John's name, to your local PBS station or to Divine Mercy Catholic Church of Merritt Island.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
