Elizabeth Carr "Betty" Williams Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Carr Williams, 96, of North Little Rock, AR, formerly of Palm Bay, Florida, died on May 14, 2013. She was born in Germania, Iowa, in 1916 to Hugh M. and Pearl E. Sutton Carr and grew up in Ellendale, MN.

In 1937, she began 60 years of marriage to Neil Kenneth "Ken" Williams. Ken's work in agricultural research took them from Ames, Iowa to Lincoln, Nebraska and Burlington, Vermont. In 1945, they moved back to Ken's home state of Florida, where they established Wilbro Dairy. After 45 years of dairying, they expanded into diverse agricultural activities.

Besides raising six children, Betty helped milk cows, kept books and dairying records, and at times, drove the milk truck to deliver milk to homes and businesses. Later, she became interested in genealogy and discovered that she and Ken were ninth cousins, traced back to the early settling of Nantucket Island.

She was a member of the Abigail Wright Chamberlin Chapter of the DAR and the Indian River Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son, Paul D. Williams; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three sons, Neil K. (Louann) Williams of Mill Spring, NC, Dan (Gret) Williams of Live Oak, FL and James Williams of Melbourne; two daughters, Susan (Les) Leonard of Vero Beach, FL and Joan (Brian) Wakelyn of North Little Rock, AR; one daughter-in-law. Marlene Williams of McAlpin, FL; and one sister-in-law, Vera (Williams) Walker of Cocoa, FL; 19 grand- children, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 3:00 pm at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock St. S.E., Palm Bay, FL, with reception to follow at Fountainhead Funeral Home.
