James Douglas Baker
James Douglas Baker's life was a testimony to the changing power of Jesus Christ. Born in Olanthe, CO on April 23, 1933, he passed away after a year-long battle with cancer on January 24, 2014. He did not give up and cancer did not win; Jim achieved greater victory by leaving his frail "earth suit" behind and claiming a healed body and eternal life in Heaven with his Savior.
Jim leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Madeline; and for his family he leaves a legacy of an honorable reputation and a good name.
A retired Chief, Jim proudly served in the U.S Navy for 20 years. He also retired after 18 years with Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
As member and past President, Jim worked tirelessly distributing Bibles and raising funds for the Gideons for 28 years. He was known for his loving heart and passion for sharing the plan of salvation and the written Word of God. In lieu of flowers, donations or memorial contributions to Gideons International, Brevard County N. Camp, P.O. Box 714, Titusville, FL 32780.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 Thursday, January 30, 2014 at North Brevard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00, Friday, January 31, 2014 at Temple Baptist Church on US1 in Titusville.
Deeply loved, highly respected, Jim will be greatly missed. As well as a warm smile and big hug, he always had two questions: If you were to die tonight, do you know where you are going? Has anyone told you they love you today?
