On Saturday, July 7, 2012, heaven gained an angel when Lahoma Spears Vance passed away.
She was born on May 22, 1925, in Red Jacket, West Virginia, to Ira and Garnet Farley. In 1958, Lahoma moved to Florida with her family when her husband, Frank, took a job at Cape Canaveral during the early days of the space program.
As a young woman during World War II, she worked as a welder on Liberty ships in Delaware. Lahoma was also employed with the Mims Citrus Growers Association and Spaco, a space aeronautics company.
Loved by neighbors and friends, Lahoma was a life-long active Church member. Loved to spend her days working in her garden and always trusted in the Lord.
Lahoma was preceded in death by her first husband of 28 years, Frank Trader Spears; her second husband of 28 years, Charles Vance; and her daughter, Margie Spears Akewleciz.
She is survived by her daughter, Frankie Esposito (Michael); son, Jody Spears (Tracy); granddaughters, Mary Ann Tallent (Scott), Mary Catherine Esposito and Savannah Akewleciz; three great grandchildren; two cats; and one special friend, Joe.
