New Smyrna Beach, FL
Marcus Alan Humphrey of New Smyrna Beach was born on February 6, 1957 in Tallahassee, FL. The family moved to South FL where he grew up Barefoot and at the beach every chance he got. Marc and his brothers were heavily involved in sports as their father Bill was a revered Hall of Fame football coach.
Marc enjoyed the outdoors and lived life to it's fullest. His early love of fishing and boating remained with him and provided him great pleasure with family and friends. Another of Marc's great loves was music. He was an incredible drummer and over the past 20 years played in local bands: Martial Law, Hot Grits and most recently, Joe's Garage. He had an amazingly powerful voice and nothing sounded sweeter as he sang and played his acoustic Taylor.
Marc was proud to be employed by Riddell. Specializing in football equipment sales, Marc traveled extensively in the SE servicing high school and college teams primarily. He was highly respected in his field and will be greatly missed.
Above all, Marc would profess his greatest achievement was becoming a dad. Marc's son Patrick was his sidekick and from a very early age and traveled with Marc often. Patrick was the love of his life and Marc's eyes never sparkled brighter blue than when he spoke of him. Marc was a proud father who watched his son join the United States Coast Guard and grow into the incredible young man he is.
Marc is survived by son, Patrick; mother, Treasie Humphrey; brothers, Mike, Terry and Reid Humphrey; and companion Rhoda Coffin. Marc leaves behind family and countless friends whom he loved dearly. No traditional service will be held, but instead a Celebration of Life will be at his home in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
Donations can be made in his honor to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, P.O. Box 13805, Tallahassee, FL 32317.
