Marion Fisher Abel passed away peacefully at home in Greenville, South Carolina on October 1, 2011. A fall at home three months previously hastened her passing to her Lord in Heaven. She was born on July 2, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio as the only child of Dudley Tyng Fisher, Jr. and Anne Potts Fisher.

Marion graduated from Upper Arlington High School in Columbus in 1946 and Ohio State University in 1951. She was employed at the home office of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at which time she met her husband, Dr. Marling L. Abel. They were married during Marling's senior year in medical school at OSU. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage, most of which was spent in North Canton, Ohio and Cocoa Beach, Florida. In April of 2007, they moved to Greenville, South Carolina to be closer to family.
She is survived by her husband, Marling Leo Abel; daughter, Maryanne Abel Dunnivant and her husband, Jeffrey Dunnivant of Decatur, Alabama; her son, Dr. Thomas D. Abel and wife, Chien Hui of Hualein, Taiwan; daughter, Sally Abel Hipps and husband, Donald Hipps of Greenville, South Carolina; and a son, Edwin William (Bill) Abel of Falls Church, Virginia. Surviving in addition to her husband and children are nine grandchildren, Christopher Dunnivant, William Dunnivant and wife, Katie, Katie Howell and fiance, Kyle Kiser, Jennifer Howell, Matthew Abel, Daniel Abel, Ana Abel, Marling T. Abel and Keleen Abel.
Marion was a lovely lady and homemaker who participated in many local activities in support of her husband and children, her mother, Anne, and Marling's parents, Mary and Edwin Abel. She was a kind, gentle person and a devoted wife and mother who will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at The Mackey Mortuary in Greenville, South Carolina. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the mortuary.
A memorial service will also be scheduled for a later date at Riverside Presbyterian Church, Cocoa Beach, Florida.
