Mary Detweiler Obituary


Mary E. Detweiler, 94, of West Liberty passed away Thursday evening, June 2, 2011 at Green Hills Center. Mary was born in Logan County, September 6, 1916 to the late Robert and Molly Caldwell Smith.

She married Joe E. Detweiler on November 1, 1933 in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2000.

Mary was a veteran of the US Army, 127th WAC Hospital Company. She worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of West Liberty Presbyterian Church. Mary was very proud of her time in the military and enjoyed reading. She and Joe spent the majority of their life living in Florida, before returning to Logan County in the 1990's.

Mary is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler will conduct a graveside service on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 2 pm at the Philadelphia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Liberty Presbyterian Church, 215 W. Columbus, West Liberty, OH 43357, or to Green Hills Retirement Center, 6557 US 68 South, West Liberty, OH 43357.

The staff of Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home, West Liberty assisted the family with arrangements.
