Ralph Allen Johnson, age 87, was born October 10, 1925, and passed quietly on December 4, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his life's love of almost 62 years, Dot. He married Dorothy Spearman in 1951. Also surviving are their oldest son and his wife, Mark and Julie Johnson, their second son and his wife, Jeff and Lynne Johnson, their daughter and her husband, Ann and Kenny Conn, Ralph's sister and her husband, Natalie and Bill Walls, his granddaughter and her husband, Jamie and Bryan da Frota, and great-granddaughter Maya Rose. His passions have always been his family, music, travel, and reading.
Ralph enlisted in the US Army and was a decorated veteran for service in the infantry in Europe. A graduate with his BSEE degree from the University of Florida and a MBA from Harvard, Ralph was committed to constant learning. A resident of Melbourne for over 60 years, Ralph worked for Radiation, Harris, Dot's Shoe Tree, and Florida Tech. A past commodore of both the Melbourne and Eau Gallie Yacht Clubs and a former chairman of Brevard Citizens Advisory Committee to the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Ralph was committed to our community.
In keeping with his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, your support can be directed to the Florida Tech Evans Library or to a
