Stanley J. Bourgeois, Sr., 88, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012.
Stanley was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Bourgeois; son, Bob Bourgeois (Ginger); twin daughters, Lynn Hall (Bill) and Lynda Macheras (Bill); seven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
He was predeceased by sons, Brian David and Stanley James Jr.; grandson, Clay; brother, Lance Jr.; and sisters, Beverly Keller and Barbara Chutz.
Stan was born in Gramercy, Louisiana on November 18, 1924 to Lance and Ruby Bourgeois. Upon graduating from Westwego Louisiana High School and shortly after Pearl Harbor, Stanley volunteered and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in which he served through the end of 1945 in the Consolidation of the Northern Solomon Islands, Guadalcanal and the Treasury-Bougainville Operation.
Stanley joined Pan American in October 1946 as a crew member of the world's first commercial ground controlled approach (radar) unit in Gander, Newfoundland until 1959. He transferred to CCAFS as a Superintendent of Operations on many missile weapon system launches and early manned flight missions. In 1964, Stan transferred to Pan Am's contracts department and worked as Contract Administrator until his retirement in December 1988.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 75 Barton Avenue, Rockledge, Florida 32955. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m.
