Thomas Rudra Harracksingh, 69, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was born on March 7, 1944 in San Fernando, Trinidad, and had resided in Jamaica, West Indies, London, England, and most recently in Melbourne, FL, since 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Vidya (daughter of Rosie Tewari); daughter, Tamira; son-in-law, Dan Mullarkey; grandson, Paul Mullarkey; sister, Sintra Ann Westwell and brother-in-law, Francis Westwell; brother, Mitra Harracksingh; niece, Camellia Westwell; great niece, Rachel Moser; niece, Lea Harracksingh (daughter of Stella Harracksingh); great nephew, Nicolas Kluver; sisters-in-law, Rhea Tewari, Madhu Hall, and Drupati Tewari (wife of Vishu Tewari, deceased); brothers-in-law, William Hall, Avind Tewari, and Anil Tewari; nieces, Mira Tewari, Usha Tewari, Joann Johnson, and Rohini Harracksingh; nephews, Mitra Tewari, David Johnson, and Roshan Harracksingh.
He attended secondary school at St. Mary's College in Trinidad, West Indies and was trained as a registered nurse at Royal Free and Queen Charlotte Hospitals in London, England. During his tenure in England, he was awarded a certificate for Nursing Excellence by Prince Michael of Kent. He was a registered nurse at Holmes Regional Medical Center for 35 years and was a valued employee, as well as, dear friend to many whom he considered his extended family.
His Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1626 Oak Street, Melbourne, FL on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 am with a reception following in the Parish Hall.
