A Creative Legacy, Warren "W.L." Vergason, 81, left this world on August 25, 2012, to be with his lifelong sweetheart, Carol, in heaven. W.L. the son of A.L. and Lonnie Vergason was born in Bartow, Florida in 1931.
After graduating from Tallahassee Leon High School, where he played football and golf, he served in the United States Air Force. It was during his service in the Air Force that he met Carol Drass and they were married.
Upon completing his service in the Air Force he attended Florida State University where he received Bachelor and Master Degrees in Advertising. Soon after graduation he started his family and moved to Gainesville, Florida to work for Sperry Rand Corporation, where he was Director of Advertising.
From Sperry Rand he joined Radiation, Inc. in Melbourne, FL for several years and then became the Director of Advertising for General Development Corporation in Miami, FL.
After a couple of years of the corporate life in Miami, and with a family of four, W.L. decided to open his own Advertising Agency in 1970. Vergason Advertising (still in business today) was incorporated in Melbourne, FL. W.L. went on to create advertising campaigns for real estate, banking and retail clients throughout Florida and the Southeast. His creative genius was the inspiration and power behind Vergason & Johns Advertising throughout the 70's and 80's. His agency was consistently the top winner of Creative Awards in East Coast competition.
W.L. was an avid jogger and would customarily run 5 miles a day.
He is survived by his brother, Glenn (BJ); and his children, Mark (Cherie), Sherri, Reid (Suzy) and Nancy (Steve); and ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
A private family service is planned.
