Herbert O. Ahlefelder, 77, of West Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2011.

He was born in Brooklyn New York and later moved to upstate Schoharie County where he spent the next 26 years as a dairy farmer. He and his family relocated to Melbourne Beach in 1972. Herb worked at a variety of professions during his years in Brevard including painting and real estate.
Herb was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Carol Ahlefelder.
Herb was an avid golfer during his retirement years. He loved to read and spend time with his family. He had a great sense of humor, loved life and loved to laugh.
Herb will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy Ahlefelder; daughters, Susan Sheehan and Gail Dixon (Doug); 4 grandchildren, extended family, friends, neighbors and his loving caregivers at A&M Assisted Living.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Palm Bay on Friday, November 4th at 10:30 am. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the clubhouse of Compass Point, on Fell Road in West Melbourne.
