Tommie Franklin Thompson, TSgt. USAF, (Ret.), aka: "Papa T", departed this life peacefully and entered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Friday, January 17, 2014 in Melbourne, FL. Born on March 19, 1930 in Roseland, LA Tommie was the eldest child of the late Tommie F. and Grace Parker-Thompson. He graduated from Denham Springs High, Denham Springs, LA and furthered his studies at Jones College in Orlando, FL receiving a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Tommie enlisted into the U.S. Air Force on October 31, 1951 and retired December 1, 1971. Following his honorable service, he worked as an insurance agent and permanently retired in 1994. During his golden years, he volunteered with Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Orlando, FL and Petersburg, VA receiving the Jefferson Award for his many hours of commitment. Tommie especially enjoyed working with children in various church and school programs and in 2005, he was ordained Deacon at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, VA.

Tommie moved to Melbourne, FL in 2008 and became a faithful member of the Eau Gallie First Baptist Church.

He leaves many memories to be cherished by his wife of 34 years, Linda; children, Linda Morrell (Don), Kathlene Albritton (Steve), Ronda Luft, Roger Thompson, Randa Leonard (Glenn), Audrey Erdmann (Jim), Tammy Burns (Mike) and Wendy Crance (Nelson); brothers, Frank Thompson (Nancy), Charles Thompson (Elsie); sisters, Mary Craig (Alan), Lucille Bonnecaze and Coralea Cupit; 32 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Levi Lanier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Eau Gallie First Baptist Church, Melbourne, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the benevolence fund or food pantry of Eau Gallie First Baptist Church, 1501 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32935.
