Roland E. Moseley, 85, of Melbourne Beach, FL, died Sunday, (3/9) in Holmes Regional Hospital. A native of Prichard, Alabama (7/8/1928) he was the son of the late William Leonard and Jessie Moseley. In 1946, he enlisted in the Air Force and was a Staff Sergeant when honorably discharged. He married the "love of his life" Marita Joyce Clancy in 1949 and they were together for 48 years before she preceded him in death.
Roland earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1955 and his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He, Marita, and their two daughters came to Brevard County in the early 1960s where their third daughter was born in 1964. Sometime in the mid-1990s, Roland decided work was no longer fun and quit working for Harris Corporation where he had been putting his degrees to work as an electrical engineer. While at Harris, he won the job for the NASA Tracking, Data Relay and Satellite System which was used for every manned space flight from Mercury, which manned the original seven astronauts, to the shuttle. Roland was an avid reader and enjoyed continuous learning. His favorite hobby was shooting sporting clays and in his younger days he particularly enjoyed practical style shooting. Roland lived and died with the Crimson Tide.
Survivors include his daughters: Deborah (husband the late Jimmy) Belvin of Palm Bay, Lisa (Kevin) Hanson of New Smyrna, Melanie (Fred) Karstens of Palm Bay; grandsons: Michael Good and Tyler Karstens and his beloved Doberman: Max.
Funeral services will be Friday (3/14) at 10:00 AM in the Cornerstone Church of God. Interment will follow in the Fountainhead Memorial Park. For friends who wish, the family suggests memorial donations to the
