Delores May Gregory
Merritt Island, FL
Delores May Gregory (Lorrie), 85, passed away Saturday April 5, 2014.
Born September 22, 1928 in Philadelphia, Lorrie grew up on Avenue "C" in Horsham with her sister Thelma and brother Jack. She later moved to Flourtown, where she lived with the Betes family through high school and early adulthood.
Mom met the love her life living in Flourtown, Sidney Richard Gregory, Jr. (Dick). They were married in 1949, living on College Avenue in Flourtown. Lorrie and Dick were a great team owning two gas stations, a Mobil in Erdenheim and a Sunoco in Chestnut Hill. After selling both gas stations, Lorrie and Dick purchased a beer distributor in Erdenheim and moved it to Flourtown. They set up the business behind their house 1415 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown which was built in "1748". Running the business for five years, they sold it to move to Miami. Upon arriving in Miami in 1960, Lorrie and Dick bought and sold apartment houses and coin laundries. Deciding to leave Miami in 1972, Lorrie and Dick moved to Cape Canaveral, where they again invested in real estate. They finally moved to Merritt Island in 1974.
Lorrie enjoyed her family and friends, fish sandwiches, a good party, boating, and always a "Good Laugh". She drank a beer with dinner every day until the end. She will be terribly missed.
