Dorothy Louise Shively

Cape Canaveral, FL

Dorothy Louise Shively, age 100, of Cape Canaveral, went to be with the Lord, peacefully, on May 26, 2014, surrounded by family. Dorothy (Dee) was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on February 11, 1914, and came to reside in Brevard County in 1956, during the beginning of the space program, with her husband, James "Pappy" Shively Sr.

Dorothy worked for many years for Ann's Variety Store, Cocoa Beach, and was an accomplished seamstress, and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her children, Linda Shively Beck (Dexter) of Rockledge and James Shively Jr. (Lillian) of Cocoa; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

A service will be held at Beckman-Williamson, Funeral Home, Viera, on Saturday, May 31st, with visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m.
