Carlos (Carl) H. Davis, Jr., 87, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his home in Suntree. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Davis; stepson, Joseph D. Luck; and stepdaughter, Michelle Hesketh. Carl was born July 9, 2026, in Port Clyde, Maine to Carlos H. Davis and Mary Lou Gowan Davis. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, William.
In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. After being discharged in 1946, he attended Brown University and was a graduate of the Institute of Banking. Most of his working years were in banking. First with Traveler's Bank and Trust, Hartford, CT and later at State Bank of Hartford. After moving to FL, Carl was with Broward Savings and Loan of Ft. Lauderdale.
Carl enjoyed hunting (in Maine), square dancing, and playing poker with his neighbors once a month. He was a square dance caller for many years, calling all over New England and other parts of the Country. He was a member of the Space Trackers Square Dance Club of Merritt Island and a former member of the Florida Caller's Association. He enjoyed attending Pineda Presbyterian Church and loved and was much loved by his church family.
A memorial service will be Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Pineda Presbyterian Church, 5650 N. Wickham Rd., Palm Shores, FL. Donations may be made to: Vitas Hospice Care, 4450 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32934.
