Robert 'Bob' Harvey

Indialantic, FL

Robert 'Bob' W. Harvey, 88, of Indialantic, FL passed away at his home of natural causes on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Born October 2, 1925 in Newport RI, he was a Navy veteran serving in the newly formed Naval Air Corp during World War II. After completing his military service, he attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly after graduation he married his wife, Isabel, and together they raised seven children.

Bob worked as a respected Quality Assurance Engineer for Minneapolis Honeywell and moved to Florida from Minneapolis in 1963. He continued working for Honeywell--Aeronautics Division in St. Petersburg, FL and, upon retirement, received an award for "outstanding contributions to manufactured and procured parts on all programs in Avionics." In 1990, he moved to Melbourne Beach with his wife in order to be closer to the Atlantic Ocean and his children.

Bob was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Melbourne Beach, FL.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Isabel M. Harvey, his daughters, Barbara Bradley of Port St. John, Janice Pace of Tampa, and Susan Phillips of Melbourne Beach, his sons, Dr. Christopher Harvey of Palm Bay, John Harvey of Indialantic, Peter Harvey of Indialantic, and Michael Harvey of Raleigh, NC. In addition, Bob leaves behind nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Everyone who knew Bob thought of him as an extremely loving husband, kind and attentive father, and true friend.

Calling hours will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbour Beach. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Melbourne Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert Harvey's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital account #36322320.
