Thomas C. (Shorty) Hobbs, 96, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at his home in Leesburg, FL. He was born on March 24, 1918 in Baker, FL and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he established residence in Melbourne, FL, where he worked as an electrician with Reynolds Electric Co until 1956 when he started his own electrical contracting company, Hobbs Electric, Inc. In addition to the electrical business, he was involved in FL agriculture, farming and ranching in Dixie County and the citrus industry in Lake County. Later in life he moved to north GA where he developed and sold mountain property. In the late 1980's he retired to Leesburg, FL where he resided until his death. He was a licensed pilot who owned his own plane and after retirement he became an avid golfer. Mr. Hobbs is survived by his son William Mills, two grandsons, Eric Mills and Alex Vazquez, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Hobbs. A short visitation and memorial service will be held for Mr. Hobbs at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL, Saturday, July 26 at 1 p.m. Contributions to Cornerstone Hospice in Leesburg or a
