Astrid Stennis Obituary
Astrid Stennes

Cocoa Beach, FL

Astrid Stennes, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Astrid was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on October 12, 1945 to Herman and Tove van der Worp.

Astrid lived a busy and full life as a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, nurse, homemaker, friend, and library volunteer. Everywhere she went and everyone she came into contact with, Astrid left an indelible impression, one of genuine love and consideration. It is because of these traits that she made hundreds of friends over her many years. Astrid had a passion for reading, sunbathing, playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, swimming, and above all, cooking.

She is survived by Lee Stennes, her loving husband of 49 years; son, Erik and daughter-in-law, Nikki and grandchildren, Evan and Elleana; son, Noel; daughter, Tove Smith, and son-in-law, Scott and grandchildren, Emily and Keaton. She also leaves her brother, Rick Witte and his wife, Mary Ann of Glendale, AZ, niece, Denise, nephew, Ricky, as well as many cousins in both Holland and Portugal.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 23rd at 10 a.m. at St. David's By the Sea Episcopal Church, 600 4th St South, Cocoa Beach. A short reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. David's.

After a long and brave battle with lung cancer, she is now at peace and without pain. Although she has left us, her spirit will remain forever.
