Kum Yim Gatewood
Kum Yim Gatewood, 73, slipped her earthly bonds and entered into the arms of the Heavenly Spirit on 16 July, 2014. Robert Gatewood, her husband of 38-plus years was by her side when she went peacefully in her sleep. She was born on January 28, 1941 in Mokpo City, Republic of Korea, and came to Brevard County in 1976 from Ui Jong Bu, Republic of Korea. Kum was the wife of a career military man, and thus was able to see the world from 38,000 feet while traveling between Korea and the US before finally settling in Rockledge in 1982. She was a Quality Inspector for Regency Communication for almost 20 years. She always dreamed about having her 'Dream House' and in 1996, that dream came true when it was built in Windover Farms of Melbourne.
She was an avid gardener and angler. In fact, when was not tending her many gardens you could find her surf fishing the Atlantic shores of Brevard. She was an excellent cook specializing in Korean cuisine.
Her parents and five siblings preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, several nieces and nephews and many friends. She will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. Casual dress is acceptable. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Florida Memorial Gardens. Please feel free to make donations to a
