Edward Thomas Corack, of Merritt Island, died peacefully with family on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. He was retired in Brevard County for 40 years. Edward was born in Dickson City, PA on September 10, 1920. He grew up in the coal mining area of Blakely, PA.
During the Depression, he worked in the CCCs. Edward enlisted in the US Navy in 1942. During WWII, he sailed on 6 Submarine War Patrols in the Pacific.
In Perth, Australia he met and married an Australian Nurse, Olive Ford, in 1945. Edward and Olive were married for 60 years, and had 6 children, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. Edward and Olive traveled and lived around the world.
Edward served on Submarines for 23 years. After Navy retirement, he worked at Electric Boat, Groton, CT. He sailed aboard USNS Arnold and USNS Vandenberg, RCA tracking ships supporting the US Space program. Edward also worked at AUTEC, Andros Island, Bahamas.
After Edward's 30 years on the 7 Seas, Down Under and Down Below, he spent summers "Up in the Mountains" at Elk Mt. PA. His wife Olive died in May, 2005.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, March 27th, at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass follows at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rockledge, FL.
