Byron (Bob) Taylor - husband, dad, granddad, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, friend, patriot, volunteer, went to be with the Lord December 10, 2012. He had bravely persevered a year of mesothelioma and chemotherapy.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Cheryl of Durham, NC, Laura Hurd and husband Rob of Palm Bay; son, Paul of Merritt Island. He was also adored by his grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Austin, Logan, Megan, and Sydney.

In 1981, Bob retired from the Army Nurse Corps as a major and a bronze star recipient. He served God and his country with passion and loyalty. The family moved to the Melbourne area in 1984.

He was a member of the International Plastic Modelers' Society and was an avid builder of small airplanes. Bob loved history, especially the World War II era and had a plethora of details he readily shared with others. The Star Wars series were among his favorite movies, and he loved taking his kids and grandkids to the theater. He once took off work and signed his children out of school to attend the opening of a Star Wars movie and attended midnight shows with the grandkids. Bob loved volunteering at the Pro Health Fitness Center as well as at church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church food pantry, 1801 Port Malabar Blvd. N.E. Palm Bay, FL 32905.

A memorial service will be held at the church Thursday, December 13th at 7 pm.
