Don Schultz, a most splendid man, was born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 13, 1938 to Mary and Clarence Schultz.

He was schooled in Philly graduating from Mastbaum Technical High School in 1956. He soon enlisted in the Navy and served for 5 years adventurously cruising the Mediterranean. Always a self-disciplined individual, he enjoyed his military experience very much and was proud to have been assigned to the carrier, the Randolph. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1962, he came to the Eau Gallie area and was hired by Radiation as a messenger. During a lay-off of only a few months, he worked at McClendon's Chevron Service Station in Eau Gallie where he met his wife-to-be, Betty Jo McClendon. They were happily married on April 16, 1966 and remain devoted to each other. Don was a loving and protective husband to "Bet" and to his daughters, Donna Jo and Rebecca Jane. When he returned to work at Radiation in 1962, he wanted to become a valuable employee there and to advance in the company. To do that, he had to work very hard and long hours and attend college at night. That's what he did for over 10 years.

He graduated from BCC, Rollins College, and earned his MBA at FIT. He managed new projects, advanced to Program Manager, and finally to Director of Programs at Harris Corporation, formerly Radiation. Don was an adept strategist, negotiator, and leader in the Government Communications sector. He was an innovator of "Team-Building" before it was widely used and he believed that recognition for the excellent efforts made by those who worked on his programs was an important aspect of his role as leader. He designed certificates and plaques as awards (his support teams would wonder what design or subject he would come up with next!). The awards were often in clever cartoon narrative or summary. Don constantly studied leadership and management philosophy for the 37 years he worked at Harris; thoughtfully integrating old and new ideas in his directorship.

The attributes that describe Don Schultz are: responsible, intelligent, passionate, respectful, energetic, focused, organized, considerate, classy, caring, loving, strong, and to lovingly quote him, "fan-n-ntastic!" (The entire quote is "Fan-n-ntastic. A state of mind".)

Don passed away the morning of February 11, 2013 at the William Childs Hospice.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Don leaves grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Jessica, Emy, and Cody, the children of Donna. Lance, Jaykob, Ally, and Ava, are the children of Rebecca; and her husband, Spencer White. Also a sister, Joan Wagner; and brothers-in-law Bill Wagner and Bill McClendon.

Donations may be made in memory of Don to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, Grand Central Station, P. O. Box 4777, New York, New York, 10163-4777.

The celebration of Don's life will take place at Faith Viera Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Drive (on the north side of Viera Blvd), Rockledge on Friday, February 15, at 2:00. Visitation from 1: 00 to 2:00 at the church.
