Hugh Alfred Devlin, 70, was freed from his earthly suffering and went home to our Lord on March 4. Hugh was born in Queens, New York on March 10, 1942 to Hugh and Edith (Moll) Devlin.

Hugh joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and served four years on the USS Ticonderoga. After the Navy, he went to work for Grumman in Bethpage, Long Island. His job at Bethpage brought him to Merritt Island in 1963. He spent 45 years working for various companies at the Space Center on the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle programs until a stroke forced him to retire in 2008. His proudest accomplishments were his work on the Apollo Lunar Limb and his sons.

Hugh was devoted to his faith and spent much of his time reading about the Bible and Catholicism. He treasured his family, friends and pets, and was a generous and loving person with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was an exceptional man and will be greatly missed.

Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Summer (Ketcham) Devlin; his sons, Michael Devlin and Christopher Devlin; brother, Robert Devlin; sisters, Patty Kavanaugh, Joan Munro and Marie Mosher; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Ketcham; brother-in-law, Dale (Sue) Ketcham; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his wonderful companion dogs, Katie and Molly Pop.

A private family ceremony will be held in Hugh's behalf at a later date.
