Wallace Ronald "Wally" Rostek Obituary

Wallace (Wally) Ronald Rostek, 80, of Titusville, passed away March 13 in Merritt Island, after a brief illness.

Born April 26, 1932, in Melrose Park, Illinois, he was the son of Walter Rostek and Martha Patzwitz Rostek. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he married Shirley Blair on August 28, 1954.

Wally and his family moved from Illinois to Miami in 1959, and settled in Titusville the following year.

A retired heavy equipment mechanic, Wally enjoyed camping in national parks with his wife and their lifelong friends, Wanda and Scott Kwasny. An avid fisherman, he loved animals and made sure that the neighborhood birds, squirrels, feral cats and raccoons always were fed.

Wally will be remembered by his family and friends as a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Wynn Rostek and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Rostek; daughter, Linda Rostek and son-in-law, Arthur Grunenfelder; daughter, Jill Belflower; sister, Carol Ater and brother-in-law, Lyle Ater; grandsons, Jason Grunenfelder and Russell Edwards; granddaughter, Amber Belflower Owens; great-granddaughter, Jaylynn Grunenfelder; niece, Karen Odgen; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Newcomer Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 2400 S. Washington Ave., Titusville.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Vitas Hospice Care of Merritt Island.
