Ronald Garrett Viccaro Obituary

R. Garrett Viccaro was granted his angel wings on April 1, 2013. He would have celebrated his 25th birthday two days later on April 3, 2013. His final moments were spent with his lifelong friend, Justin Mitchell, as they enjoyed talking and fishing together. Although both were taken from us that night, we find comfort in knowing that the two friends were together at such a difficult moment.

Garrett was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Ron and Trisha Viccaro on April 3, 1988. Garrett grew up in Dawsonville, GA, Lindenhurst, Illinois, and Concord, NC. He finished his school years in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida where he attended Hoover Middle School and graduated from Satellite Beach High School in 2006. He went on to follow his dream of becoming a chef and graduated from Johnsons Wales Culinary School in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduation, he worked as a chef for The Gaylord Hotel in Orlando, Florida. He attended Trinity Presbyterian Church and loved being outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, surfing, paintball, hunting, and car racing.

Garrett's first passion from a very young age was always food, and he had his own recipes for food, as well as life. Perhaps he loved food so much because it brought people together. He wanted to be sure that everyone around him was having a good time. To Garrett, friends and family were so important to him. Because he was so personable, he never knew a stranger. He lit up a room with his charismatic smile, which is how he got the nickname "Smiles", in high school. Anyone who knew him knows that smile -- Garrett was always smiling.

Garrett was tender, caring, loving, supportive, and had a truly Christian heart. He touched so many in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life. His life may seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Through Garrett's passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him everyday, especially his winning smile, he will forever remain in our hearts. During his time with us, we were able to create wonderful memories.

Garrett is survived by his mother, Trisha Viccaro; father, Ron Viccaro; sister, Victoria Viccaro; aunt, Shelia and uncle, John Bennett; grandfather, Rocky Robert Davis; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Satellite Beach, on April 6, 2013 from 1-3pm with services to begin at 3pm.

Beach Funeral Homes of Indian Harbor Beach are handling the funeral arrangements.
