Merritt Island, FL

Leon Cayer, 88, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26th 2013 at the Viera Hospital.

Born in Milford, MA to Leon T. and Ida (Dulude) Cayer.

During WWII, he served aboard several different Naval vessels for which time he received a Victory Medal as well as several stars for his valiant service.

Leon moved to Cocoa Beach in 1977, where he resided for 23 years before moving to Merritt Island. "Lee" as he was know by all, enjoyed running his son's marine lumberyard "Custom Docks" for in excess of 30 years before retiring for health reasons in 2011.

Lee had a "larger than life" personality, made friends easily and left an impression on everyone he came into contact with. He was loved deeply by his family and will be forever missed.

Lee is survived by his two children, son, Steve Cayer and his wife Donna; and his granddaughter Stefanie of Merritt Island. Daughter Carol Turcotte, and her husband Timothy Buckley of Merritt Island, grandson Dustin Turcotte, and his wife Lennore along with his great grandchildren Zachary Lee and Madelyn Elizabeth of Orlando. Also surviving are his sister Rose Duxbury and her husband Rick of New Port Richey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Velma, "Mama" and his sister Theresa Collette of Harwington, CT.

The family will receive visitors Saturday morning, Jan. 4th from 10am-noon at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 101 Brevard Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931, followed by his entombment with military honors at Florida Memorial Gardens. You may sign Lee's guest book at beckman-williamson.com.
