James "Dick" Bertram Glass passed away on April 6, 2014. He was born January 18, 1930 in Tarboro, North Carolina. Predeceased by parents Lily and Thomas Glass, sister Gene Collins, brother Thomas Glass, Jr., and grandson, Nicholas Catechis.

Survived by wife Nancy Sholar Glass, son James Glass, Jr. (Julia), daughters Melissa Catechis and Rebecca Oliver (Bob),and six grandchildren, Cassidy Catechis, Alexis Glass, Jacob Oliver, Matthew Glass, Luke Oliver, and Christina Glass; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dear friend and brother-in-law Jim Sholar.

He graduated from Apex High School and attended West Carolina College. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Moved with his family to Florida in 1957, where he was employed by NASA and McDonnell Douglas for 37 years as a mechanical engineer. He received numerous awards for exemplary service. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Cocoa Elks Lodge and held many offices at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa. His quick wit and strong values made him a good neighbor and loyal friend, always ready to offer a helping hand.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 13 (4 PM) at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa on Forrest Ave. Burial services will take place in his beloved hometown of Apex, NC in May.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Rosemary Laird, Dr. Patricia Felix, Dr. Nabil Aziz, All One Family, and VITAS Hospice for their excellent healthcare services, dedication and compassion.
