William C. Marple

Mims, FL

William Charles Marple, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Newport News and later on amphib ships. He traveled and mapped the waters around Japan and Korea. He served three years and was awarded the Korean medal and the United Nations medal.

He was originally from Camden, NJ. He lived in Yuma, AZ after being discharged from the Navy where he met his future wife, Vera. They were married 52 years before her passing in 2006. They moved back to NJ then to the Mims/Titusville area in 1968 and spent the rest of their lives there.

Bill work at the Kennedy Space Center in the VAB as an elevator electrician during the Apollo program and into the Shuttle program. He retired after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Robbie and Roy Thoman; daughter-in-laws Kate Marple and Dana Helmig; four grandsons: Will (Kerri), Ben, Jake, and Gibson Marple and three great-grandchildren: Andrew, Arielle and Zoe Marple.

Three sons preceded him in death, Sam Sanchez, Charles A. Marple, William J. Marple and great-granddaughter Danielle.

Bill loved scuba diving, boating, fishing, and creating and fixing things. He was very imaginative and inventive. If he needed something, he didn't buy it, he built it! He was a very sweet and gentle man who loved his family; he will be missed enormously.

A private memorial will be held with family. Everyone is encouraged to sign Bill's guest book online at www.floridatoday.com and www.northbrevardfuneralhome.com.
