Guy Hendricks Obituary
Key West, FL
Guy R. Hendricks, 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at home in Key West, FL. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 01, 1920, to Guy and Irene Hendricks of Cicero, IL.
Guy attended Proviso East HS, in Maywood, IL and he is a graduate of De Paul Univ, and Illinois College of Pharmacy, Chicago, IL. Guy served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and Marine Corp during WWII. He married Carol P. Wing in Providence, RI on June 30, 1945 who passed away in Indialantic, FL on September 14, 1969. Guy married Jean Du Bois in Los Alamos, NM on October 7, 1989.
After discharge from the Armed Forces, Guy was a self-employed Pharmacist until 1969. After Guy's arrival in FL he was employed by various independent pharmacies in the Space Coast area. He later was employed by Holmes Regional Medical Center where he was named Employee of the Year. He retired at the age of 75, in 1995. Guy will be remembered as a very loving and caring person with a sense of humor that never quit and his love for pharmacy. He was very active in the Catholic Church and enjoyed helping others.
His parents, his wife, Jean, and granddaughter, Carissa Hendricks, preceded Guy in death. Guy is survived by his sister, Irene McDunn, of River Forest, IL; children, Carol (Clarence) Flack, Clinton, IA, Guy (Blanca) Hendricks, Sebring, FL, Barbara Hendricks, Chicago, IL, Mary (Tom) Carter, Los Alamos, NM, Terre (Dave) Bombard, Lisbon, CT, Christine Hendricks, Key West, FL; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with his furry best friend, Tiggy.
Special thanks to Guy's personal caregivers in Key West, Pauline Corington, Pamela Zakariadze, and Dr. Atilla and the staff at Total Home Health, and VNA Hospice for their devoted care. A blessed thanks to Father John of The Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea in Key West and Barbara Smythers, Holy Name of Jesus, Indialantic, for providing prayers and communion at home.
A Viewing will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. with Funreal Mass to begin at 11 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Holy Name of of Jesus Cathollic Church. Entombment will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to Holy Name of Jesus Church in Indialantic, FL, The Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea in Key West, FL or the ASPCA. Guy was always gorgeous to me.
He was instrumental in my development as a competent effective pharmacy technician.
Mr. Hendricks' professional guidance has stood me in good stead.

Guy was alway lovely to me.
By the time I met him in 1989 he had already forgotten more about pharmacy than I will ever know. Still, he was so gracious with his knowledge. Mr. Hendricks was instrumental in making sure that I was a competent and effective pharmacy technician. He commanded respect and reciprocated in kind- I miss him.

Guy was a wonderful friend to my mom and dad and us four children. I loved to hear him laugh-it always made me smile. My thoughts and prayers are with his children and friends.

Guy was a true role model for many Pharmacists in Brevard county. He leaves behind those of us who knew him, loved him and learned so much from him. May God Bless you Guy and may you Rest in Peace.

we remember Guy and Jean with loving thoughts. He often could make eve strangers laugh on the elevator. Tim played poker with him in his later years here at Harbour Royal Condos in Indian harbor, Florida.
