Arnold Ray Johnson, 64, of Melvin, husband of Joan Smallwood Johnson, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Lexington.
Born Sept. 25, 1949, in Floyd County, to the late Joseph "Joe" and Frances Newsome Johnson, he was a disabled coal miner.
He is survived by a son, Steven Ray (Billie) Johnson, of Melvin; a daughter, Bridgette Ann Johnson, of Melvin; three brothers, Fred Little Jr., of Lincoln Park, Mich., Jimmy Darrell Johnson, of River Rouge, Mich., and Joseph Johnson Jr., of Melvin; and two grandchildren, Jacob and Rae.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Scott Johnson, and three sisters, Joan Tackett, Billie Jean Little and Ima Buckner.
Funeral services for Arnold Ray Johnson will be held at noon, Friday, March 14, at Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church, at Bypro, with Louis Ferrari officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome-Johnson Cemetery, at Melvin.
