Dallas Dewey Sammons, 87, of Prestonsburg, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, in Louisa.
He was born May 6, 1926, in Prestonsburg, a son of the late Dewey and Elva Branham Sammons. He was a retired clerk for the United States Postal Service, World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church, in Prestonsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Denver Sammons, of Hollywood, Fla., and a grandson, James Neil Lester.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Faye Sammons, of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Rose (Jim) Lester, of Louisa; Dallas Faye Sammons, of Morehead; brother, Arliss (Priscilla) Sammons, of Prestonsburg; sisters, Evelyn Goble and Ethel (Dean) Sammons Murray, both of Prestonsburg; and two grandchildren, Melanie (James) Sparks and Marc (Morgan) Lester.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, at the First United Methodist Church, Arnold Ave., Prestonsburg, with the Rev. Wayne Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery, in Prestonsburg.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at Carter Funeral Home, in Prestonsburg.
