Margaret Jean Carroll, 86, of Crestline, Ohio, passed away Monday evening, January 13, 2014 at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Prestonsburg, to the late Ella (Shephard) and Thomas Hunter.
Margaret worked at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Co. for over 30 years and retired from Hi-Point Firearms after 15+ years of employment. She was a caring, loving mother who created a lasting legacy for her family. Her true passion lay in the work she did in her gardening. Tending to her flower and vegetable gardens was a calling for her and she was known to have the best flower gardens in Crestline. She enjoyed cooking and freezing vegetables from her gardens.
Margaret was very organized. She was a member of United Rubber Workers Local #17. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, square dancing and playing cards, especially Euchre.
She is survived by seven children, Frances Bauers, Debbie Stallard (Dale) Lonsdale, Shirley (Tom) Deeb, Kathy (Richard) Weaver and James Carroll, Myron Carroll and Michael Carroll; thirty-two grandchildren; sixty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Clay and Noleeka Hunter; a brother, Tommy L. Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Marion "Hoot" Carroll; infant daughter, Roxyann Carroll; two sisters, Flora Hunter and Virginia Music; and three brothers, William J., Franklin D. and James A. Hunter.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Celebrant Mark Dettmer will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
